Agricultural Cooperative of Dairy Producers "Trikāta KS" was founded in 2003 by joining 11 larger and smaller farms – dairy producers of Valmiera Region. Until 10 April 2008, the cooperative was called "Jaunais Piens".
In 2006, the cooperative decided to purchase its own milk processing enterprise in order to become more independent. In 2008, having purchased the milk processing enterprise JSC "Trikātas siers", it obtained its current name – "Trikāta KS".
At the moment, the cooperative consists of over 230 farms from all regions of Latvia. The largest proportion of cooperative’s members is from Vidzeme and Latgale. The cooperative has been recognised to be one of the fastest growing enterprises in Latvia. In the end of 2003, the cooperative had 17 members and the amount of purchased milk was 1,815 tonnes.
Achievements of the cooperative have been recognised by "Dienas Bizness" newspaper and the Mortgage Bank by awarding the "Gazele" title of the fastest growing enterprise and for the ability to promote the competitiveness of small producers in the market, and to create a long-term business model. For several years now, "Trikāta KS" is among Top 500 Latvia’s enterprises, one of the largest enterprises in Vidzeme and one of Top 5 enterprises in Valmiera.
The cooperative is aiming for the most operative collection and sales of milk produced by its members. Milk samples undergo regular checks to guarantee and maintain high quality of milk which has a positive impact on the compensation for milk.
The cooperative’s Sales Division has grown and developed significantly, and now it can offer its members various goods for profitable prices necessary for production activities, i.e. feed and microelements, disinfectants and cleaning agents, mineral fertilizers, plant protection products etc. Currently, the dissemination of biomaterial is an important offer.
So that farmers could devote more of their time and energy to the development of their enterprises, the cooperative offers different types of accounting services to its members.
